Why Travel Abroad with a Young Child Who Can't Even Remember

by JLB 2025. 3. 26.

Today, I'm going to talk about traveling with kids.

Do you often travel with your kids? Do you travel abroad?

I personally really like traveling, so I went on a trip abroad at least once a year before I got married.

I also like traveling alone, so I went alone, sometimes with my boyfriend and my friends.

I remember what my mother-in-law said when I told my in-laws that I was going on a one-month honeymoon. My mother-in-law said, " Okay, once you get married and have kids, you won't be able to travel for a long time, so go and do as much as you want."

"Huh? No, I'm going to carry the kids around."

I said that, but the reality was different.

If I had met a husband who liked to travel, I would have carried the baby and traveled around together... but the reality wasn't like that.

After we got married, a year, two years passed and Lena turned 100 days old, one year old,

I thought, oh, it's time to leave.

I and Lena left home.

I traveled abroad without my husband and it was really hard for me to travel with a child who loves her father.

I had made a promise to myself that I would never travel with my children without my husband again after going through all that hardship... But it's like giving birth, after a fet months, it's not like that anymore.

I'm thinking about going on another trip.

I decided to take the kids on a trip once a year, so I bought tickets to Taiwan with Lena this year.

People around me say that the kids are too young, so if we go on a trip now, they won't remeber it when they grow up, so we should travel when they grow up.

Of course, Lena doesn't remember going to Switzerland last year. She said she's never been on a plane, and she said she wants to ride a plane. She took a round-trip flight for 24 hours.

But I don't want to do that.

Of course, the kids don't remember. But it will definitely remain in the child's deep heart, somewhere without the child knowing.

Even children who can't speak will recognize and understand everything by seeing and listening with their eyes.

I felf that when I went to Switzerland and saw Lena.

Even though she is a kid, I think she will definitely feel and learn a lot.

When we are at home, mom and dad only show kids Pororo TV, but when we travel, we can see our child's other face, and different expressions.

I often see people around me studying English after traveling abroad. I want to give my kids that kind of motivation. I think one trip aborad would be much more effective than a hundred words of "study English."

These days, kids get tutoring when they're young, and even older kids go to academies, but I want to start as late as possible.

Will I regret it later?

Hope my kids see many things, meet good people, and grow up healthy in body and mind.

I hope my kids do some international volunteer work that Mom has never done before.
